Say what, Hails is posting?

  • Jul. 12th, 2009 at 10:15 PM

Yesterday at work a couple came in with $600. A dog fighting ring spanning across Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Texas and Oklahoma was busted. There were over 350 dogs. Puppies, pregnant females, sick and injured animals. These people bought at least 20 huge bags of dog food and my store manager donated some stainless steel bowls and toys.

As they were walking out, a man looked at the three carts we were helping them carry out and said 'whew, y'all must have a lot of dogs.' And the couple just kinda smiled and said 'we wish there was more we could do to help.'

Maybe there's hope for the human race, after all.

Are you prepared for a zombie outbreak, or are you just going to wing it?

When the zombie outbreak occurs (when, not if) I'll go have an awesome block party with the zombies, complete with disco lights, bonfires, and BBQ. My theory is that no one can deny BBQ so they'd rather eat that than me. ^^

"Everyone has things they journal about.

Everyone has things they don't journal about.

Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't journal about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: last movie watched, last book read, political leanings, favorite type of underwear, etc.

Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other!"

Are You Imaginative?

I watch a ton of people on DA (let's face it, I'm an art whore) but I rarely read journal entries. This one caught my eye, however.

"Think about yourself. When you feel alone or space out, what do you see? what do you daydream? what is "Your World"?
Keep this in mind as you start your piece. Basically, the idea of this project is to draw out what "Your World" looks like. It can be as fantastic or surreal or even horrific as you'd like- even as realistic as the actual world itself. Its your world after all."

My world...I've never thought to illustrate my headspace before. It's pretty vivid so it shouldn't be too hard. But it's not overly creative.

There's the Red Forest, named because of it's perpetually red-leaved maple trees. There's the Cave that goes from the Forest through the Mountain to the Valley. Then there's a disjointed part I just call the City. It's based off of New York, I think, or what I imagine NY to be like. There also used to be the Temple and the Tree but I don't go there anymore.

My dilemma is what part of my headspace should I draw. Or maybe I could just illustrate a setting from one of my headstories or something. *shrug*

Dear God, I love this site. I get some of my best writing ideas from them. Maybe I should start posting what I write...

--

- A character will prepare for a religious ceremony. During the story, a character misreads something. The story must have a priest in it. The story must involve an orb in the beginning. The story is set during a snowstorm.

- The story is set in a lost city. The story must have a chameleon in it. The story must involve a stained-glass window in it. A character will have their hair cut.

-The story takes place twenty years in the past. The story must involve a meat cleaver in it. A character will drink something alchoholic, but it is done for different reasons than people would expect.

- A character will wake up.

- The story is set in a high tower or building. The story takes place in the early evening. During the story, there is a dramatic discovery. The story must have an angel in it.

- During the story, a way of life comes to an end. The story must have an advisor involved in the middle. The story must involve a pill at the end.

And so I don't forget...go to http://www.creativity-portal.com/howto/writing/writing.prompts.html
